Statement of Principles
State Ladies’ Auxiliary
Article 1 – Name
The name of this organization shall be Women’s Auxiliary of the Oregon State Association of Missionary Baptist Churches.
Article 2 – Purpose
The purpose of this State Auxiliary shall be to encourage the women of the local churches to be active in all phases of the work, in which they have the spiritual right to participate, and to encourage the establishment of Auxiliaries in all Missionary Baptist Churches where none exist.
Article 3 – Definition
This Auxiliary shall be composed of messengers of the local Auxiliaries of the churches which compose the Oregon State Association of Missionary Baptist Churches.
Article 4 – Membership
Each church shall be entitled to three (3) messengers who have been chosen by her Auxiliary and/or, church.
Article 5 – Time and Place
The State Auxiliary shall meet annually at 1:30 p.m. on Friday of the annual meeting date of the Oregon State Association of Missionary Baptist Churches.
Article 6 – Officers
The officers of the State Auxiliary shall be: (1) President; (2) Vice-President; (3) Secretary-Treasurer; (4) Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. Each officer shall be an active member of her church.
Article 7 – Election and Terms of Office
All officers shall be elected annually by nomination and majority vote of the messenger body.
Article 8 – Duties of Officers
The duties of the officers of the State Auxiliary shall be:
Section 1. President: The duties of the President shall be (a) to preside over all State meetings, (b) to call special meetings when necessary, (c) to appoint committees as directed by the messenger body, (d) to be active in looking after the welfare of the work.
Section 2. Vice President: The duties of the Vice-President shall be (a) to preside over the meeting in the absence of the President or when called upon by the President, (b) to assist the State President in whatever manner she may need her service in the advancement of the work.
Section 3. Secretary-Treasurer: The duties of the Secretary-Treasurer shall be (a) to prepare an agenda for the President, (b) to keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all meetings, (c) to announce special meetings, (d) to prepare and read reports as instructed by the messenger body, (e) to prepare and submit to the clerks of the State Association the minutes of each annual meeting, (f) to receive and disburse funds as designated by the donors, (g) to keep an accurate record of all funds received and disbursed by the Auxiliary, (h) to present a treasurer’s report at each annual meeting, (i) to prepare and send Auxiliary Form Letter.
Section 4. Assistant Secretary-Treasurer: The duty of the Assistant Secretary- Treasurer shall be to assist the Secretary-Treasurer in whatever manner needed in performing the duties of that office.
Article 9 – Contributions
All contributions of this Auxiliary shall be raised by voluntary offerings and shall be given to the Treasurer for proper disbursement.
Article 10 – Reports
This auxiliary shall make an annual report of work accomplished through the combined efforts of Women’s Auxiliaries to the messengers for the churches which compose the Women’s Auxiliaries of the Oregon State Association of Missionary Baptist Churches when convened in annual session.
Article 11 – Committees
Committees shall be appointed by the President except when the President requests that they be elected.
Article 12 – Goals
The goal of this auxiliary shall be a specific work which is sponsored, or supported by a church fellowshipping in the Oregon State Association of Missionary Baptist Churches, and shall be selected by messenger vote at each annual meeting.
Article 13 – Amendments
These Articles may be changed only by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) majority of the messengers.
