August 20, 2021
Note: There was no meeting in 2020 due to the Covid Pandemic.
The messengers met for the Sixty Third Annual Session at Hillcrest Missionary Baptist Church, Oregon City, OR.
Bro. Harding led the congregation in singing His Name Is Wonderful. Bro. Ed Keady led in prayer
Bro. Rod Williams and Bro. Jeff Harlin, presented the morning seminars entitled The Names of God
Services were turned over to Bro. Gary McFarlin as moderator.
Bro. Harding led the congregation in singing More About Jesus. Bro. Counts led in prayer.
Bro. Rod Williams came forward and gave the welcome for the host church.
Bro. McFarlin called for the reading of church letters. The names of each church and the names of the messengers were read from 19 letters. The messengers stood for recognition and were seated.
M/S/C to accept the agenda as presented by the Hillcrest Missionary Baptist Church Oregon City, OR subject to change by messengers. Motion Carried.
Bro. Fred McCarn was introduced as the new pastor in Redmond Or. Bro. Gene Gableson was introduced as a visiting missionary
There were no Proposed Article of Faith Changes
Bro. McCarn and Bro. Keady were appointed to the Memorial Committee.
Bro. Harding led the congregation in singing O Worship the King, Love Lifted Me, How Sweet to Trust in Jesus, When we all get to Heaven, Standing on the Promises, In the Garden.
Bro. Rod Williams led in prayer
Bro. McFarlin came forward and delivered the Moderator’s Address titled Unto the Church using Galatians 1:1-5 as his text.
M/S/C to have Bro. Gableson preach the Saturday afternoon sermon.
Bro. McFarlin dismissed the messengers until 3:30. Dismissed in prayer by Bro. Harlin
Friday Afternoon - 3:30 P.M.
The Messenger body met back together at 3:30 following the individual Ladies, Men and Young People’s meetings.
Bro. Harding led the congregation in singing Living for Jesus
Bro. Ryan Johnson led in prayer
Bro. McFarlin called for various reports and they are listed below:
Bro. Gableson gave a report on the mission work in Mexico
Bro. Chandler gave a report on the NWMCD Fund
Bro. Chandler gave a report on Coquille Church Camp
Bro. Jimmy Hubbard gave a report of the Pastor’s & Wives retreat
Bro. Rod Williams gave a report on the Men’s meeting
M/S/C to accept the invitations from the churches in Roseburg and Redmond to host the quarterly meeting in January & State Association meeting in August.
The following specials were sung:

M/S/C to take up an offering Friday and it be designated to Bro. Gableson.
Bro. McFarlin introduced Bro. Mike Chandler to give the annual Missionary Message. Bro. Chandler used Genesis 6:3 & 22 as his text.
Bro. Harding led the invitation song Wherever He Leads I’ll Go
Bro. Tom Dever gave Bro. Mike Chandler the right hand of appreciation for a great sermon.
Announcements were given and Bro. Jimmy Hubbard dismissed in prayer
Friday Evening - 7:00 P.M.
Evening services were opened with singing Since I Have Been Redeemed led by Bro Harding.
Bro. Counts led in prayer
Bro. McFarlin opened nominations for the Saturday morning devotional. Bro. Walt Emry was elected to bring the morning devotion.

Bro. McFarlin introduced Bro. Jeff Harlan, from Aloha, OR to give the Annual Sermon. Bro. Harlan’s sermon was titled: Names of Jesus in The Gospel and he used Matthew 16:13-16 as his text.
Bro. Harding led in singing I will Praise Him
Bro. Keady gave Bro. Harlan the right hand of appreciation for the sermon.
Bro. McFarlin dismissed the messengers until 9:00 AM.
M/S/C to include the Annual Message in the minutes. A voice of appreciation to the ladies for their work during the meeting. Announcements were given and Bro. Walt Emry dismissed in prayer.

Services were opened with singing Where He Leads I Will Follow led by Bro. Harding and in prayer by Bro. Dever.
Bro. Walt Emry came forward and brought the morning devotional using Acts 5:38-42 as his text.
There were no proposed permanent resolutions, missionary endorsements, nor recommendations for state missionaries. There was no need for a Northwest Development meeting.
The following reports were read and a motion to adopt as read was passed:
Bro. Emry gave a report on the mission work in the South Pacific
State Ladies Meeting: Sis. Kambria Johnson
Treasurers Report: Bro. Tom Dever
Memorial Report: Bro. McCarn, Bro. Keady
The Assembly stood for a moment of silence and was led in prayer by Bro. Keady.
Officers were elected for the upcoming year. The results are listed on the Elected Officials Page.
Bro. Harding led in singing At Calvary while the mission offering was collected.
Miscellaneous Business
M/S/C to encourage Sis. Chandler to explore a newsletter for the churches in the association

Bro. McFarlin introduced the morning speaker: Bro. Gableson. Bro. Gableson, titled his sermon Choices and used Acts 16:16-19 as his text verses.
Bro. Hubbard came forward and gave Bro. Gableson the right hand of appreciation for a fine message.
Bro. Rod Williams presented a gift to the young people and then thanked the churches for their help
